The word AWANA stands for "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed".  This motto comes from 2 Timothy 2:15 "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

Awana is Now on Thursdays

AWANA is a bible-centered ministry for boys and girls, preschool to 12th grade.  It's emphasis is on developing a personal relationship with Jesus through scripture memorization (handbook time) and biblical lessons focusing on life application (council time).  AWANA's goal is to reach boys and girls and their families with the good news of Christ and train them to server Him.  AWANA also teaches children through game time and LIT* to learn the importance of being team members, responding to authority and learning discipline, all within a biblical world view.

When:  Thursday nights from 6:00 - 8:00 pm

Where:  Bethel Baptist Church - 855 Brotherton, Escondido, CA 92025

*LIT stands for Leaders In Training (part of the Journey 24/7 program for High School)

Cubbies - preschool age

Cubbies is the club for preschoolers during the two years prior to regular kindergarten (usually 3 and 4 year olds).  Cubbies is unique because it supports and maintains the parents as the primary source of spiritual nurturing by directly involving them in the teaching and learning process. Cubbies uses fundamental AWANA elements of bible memorization, handbooks, awards, and activities.  Developmentally appropriate lessons and activities combine basic bible truths with popular preschool concepts of colors, shapes, numbers and letters.

Sparks - Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grade

Sparks is the club for lively kindergarteners, 1st and 2nd graders.  Each club session is divided into three segments.  During "Green Meadow Time", Sparkies gather for their bible lesson.  During "Sparkle Time", clubbers complete handbook sections.  In "Game Time", Sparkies enjoy games played on the "AWANA Game Circle".  Sparky, the friendly firefly, appears throughout the bible-based materials to encourage clubbers to complete their handbook achievements.

Truth & Training (T & T) 3rd - 6th Grade

Truth & Training is the club for 3rd and 6th graders. Each club session is divided into three segments.  During "Handbook Time" kids earn awards for memorizing scripture and working in their handbook.  During "Game Time", clubbers enjoy games played on the "AWANA Game Circle".  During "Council Time", clubbers enjoy singing and a bible lesson.

Trek - 7th & 8th Grade

Trek meets the needs of youth through a feature event that uses spirited games and activities to attract unsaved youth to church and then make them feel at home.  "Large Group Time" communicates a single bible truth that spiritually lost kids can grasp.  Young people are then organized into small groups according to their spiritual needs.  Young people are given opportunities to put their faith in action by getting involved in service projects and serving in their church.

Journey - 9th-12th Grade

Journey, features an energetic look, enhanced content, life application and an emphasis on scripture memory.  Through this program students will read through the entire bible during the four-years of Journey.  High School students also learn valuable lessons about leadership as they serve as Leaders In Training (LIT's) by spending time as a listener or game helper in the younger clubs.
